Unfortunately, I've never heard of Paradise Lost nor have I have I come across the work of phillip Pullman. In this article Phil uses dark descriptions and graphic details to paint the picture. Similar to Phil, at first I wasn't to fond of poems at first. Maybe I wasn't reading the right or maybe I just thought too deep into it. I always thought they were hard to read or understand, but like anything else the longer you do or watch something, the better you'll become or understand it. Phil speaks on the experience of reading aloud when you don't fully understand, that helps. Now that i have a better understanding of aesthetics, I appreciate it a lot more.
